Seriously, my sciatic nerve is killing me on my left side. I just started walking away from my desk today, minding my own business, when boom a pain in the rear. Not to mention the other pains that are here at work. *sigh* Wouldn't it be nice to do what we all wanted to do for a living? So many of us fell into our jobs and now we're stuck. I'm stuck mostly because of my great insurance. I guess I should be happy that because of my job I can retire at 49 and then get a job doing something I actually want to do. I know I may be crazy, in fact those that already have this job may think I am, but I've always wanted to be a teacher. I have so much fun planning for Cub Scouts and I know that's just a fraction of the work that goes into being a teacher, but I just love the reward I get when it clicks with the kids and they get it, really get what you are trying to teach. Anyhoo, I'll stop daydreaming and get back to work and plan cub scouts later :)
On a side note, I've been practicing for my "audition tape." I want to do it like an audition but I did find the karaoke version of the song, so I'll play around with that too. Strange, but I'm actually pretty nervous about doing this. I guess because anyone could see and and potentially laugh their you know what's off. Oh well, I like the way I sing, so I'm going to just buck up and sing!
TTFN all my beautiful readers!
Welcome to my blog! Please feel free to read and comment. It's not just an online journal, it's a way to keep my friends updated on what's going on in my world!

And the winner is....
This was really, really hard everyone! I have to say all of the suggestions were really excellent. But, I have to pick one winner. Please note that you are all winners and I really debated this one...
The winner is Brooke for her suggestion of "When you Believe" from the Prince of Egypt!
I'll have your card at church on Wednesday and I'll have the video posted for everyone else by Saturday. A girl needs to practice, right!?!
Thanks again everyone for suggesting, hopefully all of my blog lurking people will post next time. I know you are out there :)

I know you are all reading this, but I need a response to this one....Blog Candy!
Hey there! Please comment on this one because I'm putting out a challenge. In honor of American Idol, I'm going to post my own "audition" tape here on my blog. But, I need your suggestions! What shall I sing for Simon? Or in this case, Joey (he'll be operating the camera)...So, post your suggestions all, and the suggestion I pick receives a $10 gift card to Chili's (or Macaroni Grill it's one of those combo cards). You make a suggestion, I pick it, I mail you a card, easy as that! So come on everyone! Tell me what to sing, I'll either crash and burn or become an overnight success, either way you get a gift card! The winning suggestion will be posted on Monday (1/28) with the special performance airing by 2/2/08!!!
I can't wait to hear from you!!!!

Another day another $0.25...
This weekend was pretty fun. I got to do a little scrapping (although I didn't get to go to the crop, bummer) at home. I worked on a board book that my mom is going to take to my grandpa in Utah. It's coming out so good! I also had friends over from the Sticks (just kidding, Stephanie!) to watch the boxing match with our other good friends. Needless to say, I was the only white person there :) Tee-hee. Sunday I taught the little ones for perhaps the last time and then got to tell the kids being baptized this year all about Scouts. The entire 2 of them! Sunday night was just us chilling and eating left over albondigas. Yum!
So, back at work after a wonderful holiday off. I stayed home with the babies. I made 3 home cooked meals. I put the baby down for a nap and watched disk 4 of Season 4 of Nip/Tuck. Crazy! Our Home Teachers came over, Auggie dropped by. It was a nice day. I really didn't want to get up and come back to work.
I forgot to mention that I dyed my hair also. It came out a bit dark, but oh well. I'll get used to it after a while. Otherwise, everything is pretty normal here in my little world. I do have to leave you with a funny story. It didn't happen to me, nor did I witness it, but...
We were all telling stories about crazy things we heard about in the hospital ER's. The nurses see alot of things, well, one lady told me about this:
A guy back in the day of the disco came in for a broken leg. He was decked out and wearing his tight disco pants. In order to treat the leg, they had to cut open his pants. Well, taped to the gentleman's upper thigh region was a polish sausage! I guess he really wanted to show off in those tight pants.
I guess that was a little naughty, but hey, you gotta laugh!

It's only a day a-wayyyyy!!
Well the weekend is only a day away!
Although I have much cleaning to do, I can't wait for Saturday. This week at work has been heck! Just crazy. Like I said in a previous blog, picking up the pieces of the broken mess another person left us.
Well, the diet thing isn't going to bad, I guess. I guess the best thing is I haven't gained anything and I resisted doughnuts and brownies. That's quite a feat, if I do say so! Now, can I make it through the weekend? Probably not, but I say, eating better is a start and I'll get there! The hardest part this week has been the exercise. I didn't want to jog this week because it was just so cold! I would have warmed up jogging, but the wind would have knocked me over. Hopefully we'll get a slight increase in temperature next week. Or, I'll win the lottery and be able to get a gym membership and quit my job so I have time to go to the gym. Tee-hee!
I get Monday off at work to celebrate Martin Luther King day, or Civil Rights day as they call it here at my work. To celebrate I'm going to stay at home, sleep in and then scrapbook. Yeah! Okay, I'll most likely be cleaning up messes the kids left, breaking up their picking on each other fights, playing with the baby (well I like this part) and dealing with whatever else comes up.
Well, I guess I better get back to it!

Ouch!
Well, Day 2 begins!
Last night, I was quite proud of myself. After all the family stuff was taken care of, which included making a sympathy card for one of James' customers whose husband passed away (that was really difficult), I decided I needed to start this diet out right and get to exercising!
I wanted to take the dog on a walk, since I really don't feel safe walking alone at night. Abby wanted to come with me, so I compromised. We swung by The Wall (Walgreen's) to get a leash for Odie, since the other one he had was used for some other purpose that no one will own up to or tell me where it now resides. Then, we headed to the church with some water, also picked up at the Wall. I felt much safer in the church parking lot than I would be at a park. Ab's and I then proceeded to walk and jog around the church. The jogging about killed me, but since I'm starting slow, I'd walk a little, jog a little that sort of thing. Abby made it 4 laps then whining (as per usual) went to sit in the car with the dog (which was also pretty bushed). I did the last lap on my own with more jogging than walking. Whew! Was that hard! I got home, wrapped everything up, read some email, bathed the Soph and then hit the hay-hard!
Now the ouch part...I'm not completely sore, but sometimes-yikes! Mostly my knees. They are holding a whole lot of women (Said like Foxy Cleopatra in Austin Powers) so I think they are protesting the extra strain. I tell them it will get better and I'll be nice tonight (Book club!) but tomorrow, after Scouts, here we go again! I'm hoping to get my bike this week too. It will be fun to take Joe out riding with me (he didn't get to join me last night since he didn't bring his math book home-groundation factor-that's what my dad would call it).
Well, on to my crazy day TTFN!

Amazingly crazy
I just had to stop in the middle of work to tell you about how crazy this is. We have a lady that works here in our Department. Nice lady, but wow. Last week we were told we were allowed to proceed with something here in our department. We asked her to do her job. She tells us that she has done it and that we have everything. Well Thursday she went out on Medical leave (unexpected, of course) and we found out that only did she not do the most recent assignment, but she hasn't been doing anything right for the last 6 months! We knew some things were messed up before, and she said she fixed it. Now, we all have to play clean up and try to decipher what has gone on. And, the really bad thing is, when you ask her about stuff, she lies. We would never get a straight answer out of her.
Anyway, it's just really disappointing, especially since she took over the job I used to do. It's like someone messing with your work of art, your baby and just...Ugh! I can't even express it! It's getting into the "we told you so" situation with our boss. We aren't in the 'biz that we should have to look over someone's shoulder to make sure the work is getting done. It's HR for crying out loud!
Also,on a completely different note, this is day 1 of dieting. I thought I'd put it out there, so now the whole world knows and it's more pressure. Don't disappoint the world, Christine! Just don't! Ah, dieting stinks! Food really just rocks! Today is usually the type of day that would have me stopping to have a fling with Mr. Ben and perhaps Jerry too. Ah, Chubby Hubby......how I miss thee...(I mean the ice cream. My chubby hubby is still here, thank goodness!)

What eats a Coral Trout besides humans?
This week has been pretty normal, starting on Sunday..
So, I am substituting in Primary for all of this month (at least) and we had our first lesson about CTR and they got their rings and everything. They are such cute kids. But, the most interesting thing about it was that we were out of church by 11:00am! Woo-hoo! We went home, fed the babies and took a nap! A looonnnggg nap!
School started again on Monday, and with it, homework. The kids had to do the "what I did over vacation" packet. I was impressed by Abby, it's like the lightbulb finally turned on and she is getting it. We'll see at her Parent/Teacher conference on the 16th. She's been going to tutoring on Mon&Thurs to try to get a better grasp on what they have been learning. I really thing most of Abby's issues has to deal with her lack of confidence. She gets upset if she makes a mistake. I'm alot like this too, but I've fortunately learned to push it aside when I have to and lament later. Later that night I did research for her first report. Coral Trout, that she picked, out of all the beautiful creatures that live in the Great Coral Reef. Not pretty...
We had Scouts on Wednesday. I'm lucky that I got a fun Scout leader to work with now since she had to replace the awesome leader I had. Miss you, Dennyse! We talked a little about family history and made a challenge to write in our journals for 2 weeks straight. That's going to be hard! I'm starting tonight..blogging doesn't count..
Here at work I spent most of the day helping a supervisor with interviews, boring! So, between them, I did somemore cruising on Etsy. I am extremely addicted to online shopping. Really bad guys! I bought some cute stuff these past couple of weeks on Etsy for the kids and myself. The good news is, it's kept me off Ebay for a little bit. Replacing one evil with another!
And, the latest news, I have a myspace account, which I never use anymore because it's annoying and banned from work, anyhoo, my brother informs me that it's been hacked and someone is sending out bogus messages to all of my friends to check out crazy websites. I'm planning on deleting it, but want to give me friends adequate time to make the switch to my blog. So, annoying! What a waste of time! Someone thought it was important enough to hack through my password so they can send out stupid messages.
Whatever...
So, on a final note, how much of a bum is it that all of the TV shows aren't in production? I really miss my shows! I've had to hold conversations with my spouse as well as read a book. How sick is that? Tee-hee. Okay, I do enjoy that I've got to have quality time with everyone, but still, what a bum right? Some of those shows were in the midst of important stuff. Some have been permanently cancelled! Crazy. I just like and ending to my story that's all! So, on that note. R.I.P. 4400..

A Happy Saturday
Last night I had a fabulous time at a crop. I took Camille with me. She is even newer at scrapping than I, so I felt like the expert for once. I marveled at the wonderful creations that the others ladies made and just thought to myself, "One day, self, one day!" I think I embarrassed Amie with my Star Wars terminology, but seriously, her style and they way she scraps is really amazing and she should be so proud!
Anyhoo, on Saturday morning, I slept in a little, then hung out with the kids. After James got home I went to the nail salon to fix my boo-boos. I broke two nails at the crop. What the hey? My index figure on my right hand feels awful, but it is definitely better with the nail, than without. After that I hit the thrift store. I picked this awesome vintage baby carriage for the girls, and boy did they play with it...only $7.99!
I think they didn't know what they had when they marked it only $7.99. I got some shirts for me, skirts for Abby, some books (board books too, crop ladies! What an awesome idea!) a tray for my scrapping desk. A pretty nice haul, although it was not 50% off day, I'm so glad I went. After that, I came home and hung out for a while and read my lesson for church tomorrow. I'm substituting for a Sister that just had a baby for the whole month of January. After that, James wanted to cheat on his diet-NO ONE TELL STEVE LOL! So we went to the Golden Corral and ate until we about popped. Then off to Wally World for some new tape since I burned mine up last night.
Well, got to finish everything up for church tomorrow. Since we are going at 8am now I can't lounge around and get everything together during the morning. Oh well, at least I get a nap now! Have a great one everyone!

A Whole New Year!
Wow, it's been a wild week. Mostly because it's crazy that I haven't been at work. It's been lovely!
So, let's recap!
I left work late on Monday because my boss decided to let me have another day off this week. So, that means I don't have to return to work until tomorrow morning. So, I had to make sure I wrapped everything up before I left. I cruised on home so I could get ready for the family parties.
First we went to James' aunts house for a while. We ate posole and danced and hung out around the fire. It was really windy and cold.
We didn't stick around there all night because we also wanted to go to Benji's & Annette's house (our fave's of the cousins-but don't tell, shhh...) for the actual New Year. It was really fun. Abby didn't make it to the countdown, she fell asleep on the couch. What a doll! Then, off to bed!
The next day was my birthday, yeah! I still enjoy my birthday. Perhaps when I turn 30 I won't like it as much, but right now, I'm still a fan. We headed to my mom's house for a fabulous cake that she baked, yum!
We played Guitar Hero, and Joey beat the game (at easy level, but I'm still really impressed). He is excited that it's the one game that he is actually better at than his Uncle Steve!
Then Mom and Dad watched the kids so James and I could see a movie. So, no judging here ladies and gents, but we saw Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox story. Which is funny but very inappropriate. The best part is that guy can sing!
Wednesday was pretty fun. I got some awesome scrappy stuff from Amie. Thank you, thank you! I dropped off the little one and took the biggies to see Alvin and the Chipmunks. That was really cute. I couldn't believe I went to the movies two days in a row. It is seriously a record for me. Then I went to the mall and used my Bath and Body Works gift certificate. I will now smell better, so all those who complained. Okay, I really am joking there...and then went to the Disney Store where I got these awesome shoes with my birthday money from my folks:
After that I picked up my beauty went home, then got ready for Scouts. After Scouts, we met my brother and Camille at the movies and saw Sweeney Todd. Really gorey. But, still good. The music really is fantastic. Johnny Depp can do anything! We got home really late, so the next morning I had James drop off Sophie and the kids and I sleep a little, cleaned the house then got ready for Tammy's baby shower.
Just a quick note on this because I will cry...Tammy adopted a beautiful, tiny baby boy they named Jesse. I'm so happy for her and her family. It really is remarkable and really shows you how our Heavenly Father knows what is best for us, even when we think we don't. What a beautiful story! We love you Tammy! Welcome to our crazy West Point Ward (yeah and Surprise II Ward to count Dennyse) Family Baby Jesse!
And, here's finally one of the layouts I promised to show. I haven't done the journaling on it yet, but it's Joey as a wee babe.
